Home / Australia guides / Charging sources / Wind input assessment: Family home
Australia planning guidance for a specific property and load boundary. Protect a recovery window from discretionary use. H2OME remains in early development.
A turbine nameplate rating does not describe the energy available at a particular property. Ask for a site-specific resource assessment, an output estimate with stated assumptions and measurements where appropriate. Terrain, obstacles, equipment limits and maintenance access affect the proposal.
Assess low-input periods as well as a favourable production day. The electrical demand must still be met when wind output falls, and equipment may stop in conditions outside its operating limits. Do not replace resource evidence with a regional climate claim.
Laundry, vehicle charging and bulk water heating should be considered separately rather than folded into an essential-load promise.
Several people can turn on appliances at once. The largest demand may occur when an outage ends and refrigeration, hot water and cooking all try to resume, rather than during the quiet overnight period.
For a family home, compare measured wind output with the 12-hour base window, including periods with no useful input. The extra monitoring device requires 0.36 kWh each 24 hours even when production is low, unless its documented operating design says otherwise.
Protect a recovery window from discretionary use. A whole-home connection is not proof that every appliance can operate together. The family needs a priority schedule that remains understandable without a phone app.
All numbers below are hypothetical teaching inputs, not measured appliance specifications or product performance. The topic-specific extra load is separate from the base set; omit it if your real inventory already counts it. This worksheet does not include conversion overhead, protection design or a contingency allowance.
For a family home, assume the selected base loads average 0.25 kW for 12 hours: 0.25 × 12 = 3 kWh. Separately, an additional monitoring load at a wind-fed property draws an assumed 15 W for 24 hours: (15 ÷ 1,000) × 24 = 0.36 kWh. The combined illustrative demand is 3.36 kWh.
Even a small continuous load belongs in the budget before generation is allocated to storage.
For arithmetic only, if the complete storage chain had a hypothetical 30% round-trip efficiency, delivering 3.36 kWh would require 3.36 ÷ 0.30 = 11.2 kWh of charging input. This is not a measured H2OME efficiency or recovery result. Ongoing demand during charging would add to the required input.
Base operating window: 12 hours. Extra illustrative load: An additional monitoring load at a wind-fed property, 15 W for 24 hours. Replace every input with a measured or professionally established value.
In Australia, check connection questions with your electricity retailer and distributor. Use electrical professionals holding the licence required in your state or territory, and ask the local council about relevant siting, building and water-use requirements. Energy Made Easy covers New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory; outside those jurisdictions, check the relevant state or territory consumer energy comparison resource. Compare your actual tariff and charging window, not an assumed national rate. This guide does not claim to know a particular state's approval process.
For life support equipment in Australia, keep life support registration current with the electricity retailer or distributor as applicable and confirm how the other party is notified. Follow your clinician and equipment provider's contingency plan. Registration is not a guarantee of continuous electricity, and H2OME cannot replace an independent medical contingency.
H2OME is in early development. Its 10 kW output figure is a design target, not a proven specification. There is no confirmed price, certification, commercial availability or guaranteed runtime in this guide.
Hydrogen is an energy store, not free energy. Grid input, wind and micro-hydro are the charging options considered here. Each requires its own supply assessment. Do not install hydrogen equipment, modify fixed wiring, bypass protection or improvise a connection from this guide.
These official resources provide energy, consumer and technical background. They are not endorsements of H2OME, proof of its performance or a substitute for site-specific professional advice.

No. The 3.36 kWh total is an illustrative demand worksheet, not a runtime result. Actual appliance measurements, usable storage output, starting demand, conversion overhead and reserve limits are needed. The 10 kW design target is not demonstrated output capability.
