Home / New Zealand / Hydrogen Home Power Guide
Start with the task and the property, not a promised runtime. These guides explain measurements, priorities and questions for qualified professionals.
There are 49 assessment topics, each developed for ten property contexts, plus nine thematic hubs. A compact apartment, remote cabin and farm residence have different consent, load and operating boundaries even when they share an appliance. Work through the topics relevant to the actual property rather than treating every page as a product recommendation.
H2OME is in early development. Its 10 kW output figure is a design target, not a proven specification. There is no confirmed price, certification, commercial availability or guaranteed runtime in this guide.
In New Zealand, discuss supply arrangements and connection questions with your electricity retailer and distributor. Ask the local council about relevant siting, building and water-use requirements. Use appropriately qualified electrical and hydrogen professionals, and refer workplace safety questions to WorkSafe guidance. This page does not establish a consent or compliance outcome.
For medically dependent people in New Zealand, register with your electricity retailer, the company that bills you, and keep that registration current. Re-register when switching retailers; ask the retailer how the distributor is informed and what clinical confirmation is needed. Follow the clinician and equipment provider's contingency plan. Registration does not guarantee uninterrupted electricity, and H2OME is not a substitute for that plan.
Measure electrical demand before choosing equipment, separating sustained power, starting demand and stored energy.
Separate food, water, heating and communication needs from loads that can wait.
Prepare for loss of supply, changing priorities and a controlled return to normal operation.
Assess grid, wind and micro-hydro inputs using measured supply and a realistic recovery window.
Understand conversion losses, storage limits, water balance and the evidence a proposed system needs.
Identify access, water, environmental and layout questions for qualified assessors, not DIY installation.
Prepare the questions a licensed electrical professional must resolve before any installation.
Compare options, tenancy constraints, responsibilities and the limits of early development claims.
Request credible test results and organise inspection, monitoring and service responsibilities.
Country resources describe consumer arrangements and energy decisions. Technical background describes hydrogen and fuel cells, not verified H2OME performance. Local requirements and individual site suitability still need confirmation.
Ask us about H2OME, tell us about your property or register your interest in the proposed system. We are in early development. No payment or purchase commitment; contacting us does not guarantee a pilot installation.
