No electrical system should sit where floodwater can reach it. If your property has flooded before, or sits on a mapped flood plain, the enclosure, battery and inverter should go on raised ground or a raised platform well above known flood levels. Your council's flood maps and your own memory of the last high water are both worth bringing to a site visit. This is a design question for the pilot, not something to sort after the fact.
Do not restart any electrical equipment that has been under water, including this system. Silt and water inside an inverter or battery enclosure is a fire and shock risk, and a hydrogen system has sensors and valves that must be checked before it runs again. Leave it isolated and get it inspected by qualified people. The automatic shutdown should have done its job, but a visual check is not enough after immersion.
How it works →
If the equipment stayed dry, it becomes your clean-up power. Drying a house means fans and dehumidifiers running for days, a water blaster for silt, and a pump for anything still pooled under the floor. The 15 kW continuous output covers several of these at once, but they drain storage steadily.
Rotate the heavy gear rather than running everything together, for example dehumidifiers overnight and the water blaster in short daytime bursts. Keep the fridge and freezer on throughout so the food you managed to save stays safe, and switch off any circuit an electrician has not yet cleared after the water.
Only from a wind turbine or micro-hydro if you have one. Note that a micro-hydro intake is often choked with debris after a flood, so plan on running from storage until the grid returns and the intake is cleared.
Yes. It splits filtered, de-ionised water, so it must never draw on floodwater or a contaminated tank. Its water supply should be checked along with everything else before the system goes back into normal charging.
Check with an electrician that your house wiring and switchboard are safe before powering circuits that were flooded. Run only circuits that were cleared. The backup supply is only as safe as the wiring it feeds.
Pilot installs go to people on this list first. Rural homes, farms and remote sites especially. No spam, no payment.
